A mixed-use project with apartments and commercial/retail space could rise near the South Florida Education Center in Davie.

The city’s Planning and Zoning Board will consider plat approval on Dec. 14 for Main Street Lofts at 4100 Davie Road/ S.W. 64th Ave. If the measure passes, it would go to the town council for final approval in January.

The 0.44-acre site is south of the South Florida Education Center, a multi-university campus featuring Florida Atlantic University, Broward College, Nova Southeastern University, the University of Florida and McFatter Technical College.

The land is currently owned by the Davie Community Redevelopment Agency, but in April the CRA agreed to sell it for $490,000 to 4100 Davie Ventures pending site plan approval.

Managed by Sacha Touret in Aventura, 4100 Davie Ventures proposed a four-story project with 45 garden apartments and 4,324 square feet of commercial/retail space. It would have 15 studios, 21 one-bedroom apartments and nine two-bedroom apartments.

Architect Frank Costoya designed Main Street Lofts in Davie’s traditional Western theme.

Hoyt Holden of planning firm Calvin Giordano & Associates, which represents the developer, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
