Downtown Fort Lauderdale is seeing the rise of a new alternative workspace concept. Pipeline Workspaces just opened its fifth location.

One Financial Plaza is a 28-story office tower one block off of Las Olas Boulevard and south of Broward Boulevard. This is Pipeline’s fourth location in South Florida. The firm also has alternative workspace in Brickell, Coral Gables, and Doral.

“We felt this was the perfect time to open a Pipeline location in Fort Lauderdale, especially given the city’s growth and the increasing diversification of its industries,” Pipeline cofounder Philippe Houdard tells GlobeSt.com. “Broward County’s healthy economy has given rise to an entrepreneurial ecosystem as well as large, well-established companies. In our space, a diverse mix of companies from across the board can collaborate and benefit from each other’s expertise.”

The Greater Fort Lauderdale area has emerged as a growing hub for corporations and international businesses, with nearly 200 companies having a corporate, division or regional headquarters in the area. Greater Fort Lauderdale is the heart of the “TechGateway,” with global technology and software firms such as Motorola, BlackBerry, Citrix, and Ultimate Software having an office presence that has attracted a deep and diverse talent pool of tech professionals.

Members at the new coworking location include: TECKpert, a full service digital agency; Green Mills Group, a real estate firm focusing on affordable housing and community development; Darfoor Law Firm, P.A.Eventus Trading Partners, a firm that uses a proprietary strategy to identify and capitalize on arbitrage opportunities and market inefficiencies; Centro, a technology and services company; and Swing Shift Hotels, a mobile app developer.

The office space embraces the city’s beach culture with elements.
